Brahms published the "51 Exercises for the pianoforte" in 1893. It is a unique didactic work and the last of the composer's piano publications. It followed on the heels of the "Klavierstücke" Opp. 118 and 119. In 1894, soon after publications, the "51 exercises" received a short and penetrating review by an unknown critic in the magazine "Der Klavier-Lehrer". (...)
