The pieces and exercises in this book have been selected from the Mikrokosmos specifically for the purpose of providing beginning clarinetists with supplementary material for the development of technique and musicianship.
The music, suitable for individual or class instruction, is in duet form not only to provide the learner with needed ensemble experience but also to furnish him with models of good tone quality, intonation, attack, and so forth, all embodied in the performance of his teacher.
Teacher and pupil should alternate the playing of the upper and lower parts, and the exercises should be mastered prior to the assignment of the pieces to which they apply.
The duets can be used also by intermediate and advanced clarinetists for sight reading purposes.
