At the turn of the year 1722-23, Bach in any case reworked two of his works he regularly used in his lessons, namely the Two and Three Part Inventions BWV 772-801 as well as the "Well-Tempered Clavier" BWV 848-871 to present them in an authoritative version. He rearranged the Inventions and added a title page emphasizing the didactic claim he made with his collection
